Monk in Motion: The Next Face of Jazz


$25 for each concert (students/seniors $15) or $20 for TribecaPAC Mainstange Members Drummer Jamison Ross, a 24-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, won first place at the 25th annual Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. Ross began playing drums at the age of 3. As a high schooler at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Ross figured prominently in the 2007 documentary "Chops" about a high school jazz band. Since moving to New Orleans to pursue a master's degree, he has also found a spot in bands led by saxophonist Wess "Warmdaddy" Anderson and pianist Henry Butler, and will appear as a supporting musician in a future episode of Treme.
