Cityvisions 2018 Film & Video Showcase
This year, Cityvisions will be held at the Auditorium on Broadway, 1871 Broadway (between 61st and 62nd)in New York City, on Friday, June 1. The festival begins at 4:00 PM (doors open at 3:30) and ends with an award ceremony starting at 9 pm.
The Cityvisions 2018 line-up of short films is a diverse mix of 10 documentaries and 9 fiction films. They include, to name just a few, a musical set in Chinatown about a girl with dreams of stardom; a documentary portrait of an ex-con from Brownsville, Brooklyn who tries to keep urban youth out of prison; an enchanted tale about an old man holding a funeral for himself in a small, remote Chinese village; and a filmmaker’s heart-rending personal journey to reconcile with her estranged mother in Japan.
Previous thesis films from CCNY’s MFA program have gone on to win, in Student Categories, four Oscars, six Oscar nominations, as well as four Emmys. MFA films have also been invited to prestigious films festivals including Sundance, Cannes, Berlin, Edinburgh, Moscow, Munich, Venice, and South By Southwest.
