Latinx Culture Symposium

The Latina/o Literatures Committee in the English Department invites faculty, staff, and students to join us in celebrating Latina/o and Latin American cultures, histories, and communities at the Symposium on Latinx Culture at LaGuardia on Monday, April 16, 2018. This year’s symposium will focus on mental health and Latinx communities but submissions are welcome on any aspect of Latinx experiences, including but not limited to:

  • Latinx literature, music, performance, and visual culture
  • Disability, accessibility, inclusivity
  • Migration and immigration
  • Latinx genders and sexualities
  • Policing, criminalization, detention
  • Hurricane Maria, earthquake in Mexico
  • Trauma and healing
  • Activism and community resistance

Faculty and staff are invited to present their own research or creative work or nominate current or former students to present. Please email 200-word proposals and 100-word bios to Dr. Sonia Alejandra Rodríguez sorodriguez@lagcc.cuny.edu and Dr. Belkis González begonzalez@lagcc.cuny.edu by Friday, February 16, 2018.
