Lynda Caspe, BMCC adjunct associate professor, will participate in a panel discussion, "Creating an Alternative Art World," at the Museum of the City of New York (www.mcny.org ), 1220 Fifth Avenue, in Manhattan, on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30 p.m.
Inaugurated by Hortense Spillers, the Lorde/Hemphill lecture commemorates the lives of American poets, Audre Lorde and Essex Hemphill, and encourages scholarship and literary production within the communities to whom their writing spoke.
In The Lacuna, Barbara Kingsolver illuminates an era when bold internationalism gave way to a postwar landscape narrowly defined as “Americanism.”
