Person Place Thing: Kinan Azmeh in Conversation with Randy Cohen

Join us for a special live recording of Person Place Thing featuring renowned Syrian-American clarinetist and CUNY Graduate Center alumnus Kinan Azmeh in conversation with Randy Cohen, host of Person, Place, Thing podcast and radio show.

Known for his powerful blend of classical music, improvisation, and global traditions, Azmeh is one of today’s most compelling musical voices. His work has been commissioned by major institutions including the New York Philharmonic and the Elbphilharmonie, and he has collaborated with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Daniel Barenboim, and John McLaughlin. A Grammy winner with the Silkroad Ensemble, Azmeh is also the subject of the acclaimed new documentary Half Moon, recently screened at DOC NYC and other international film festivals.

In this intimate and engaging conversation, music and storytelling come together as Azmeh reflects on the people, places, and objects that have shaped his life and work—accompanied by live, short musical performances performed by Kinan.
